Greening the Golden Years: Three Senior Women Making News

This is the story of three women, two sisters from Chile and an activist who lives in Canada. Ten years and several thousand miles separate their stories, but the message is the same: seniors get things done.

The first picture is that of Nicolasa Quintreman, who lived in an area of southern Chile along a river called the Biobio. She and her sister became active protesters when plans were made to build hydro-electric dams on the Biobio, flooding her ancestral home.

Our second activist was born in the United States and immigrated to Canada in 1966. She’s 78 years old, and has made activism her life, and that has led to her present predicament, as witnessed by her picture.

Interesting women with special events in their lives, all in the name of preserving nature.
