Think Everyone in this Land of Plenty has Electricity? You’re Wrong!
The people whose land we occupied so many years ago have not been given their fair share of our prosperity. Right now, there are more than 10,000 Native American households in Arizona that have no access to electricity. Shamefully, that’s 7% of all Native American households without electricity in America. Do the math.
Arizona is making an effort to bring electricty to it’s Native American residents through a new program called the Tribal Rural Electrification Program. Arizona Gov. Janet Napolitano announced the new initiative Wednesday, saying the first phase will bring solar power to at least 100 reservation homes by the end of the year.
It’s not a lot, but it’s certainly a beginning.
The Arizona Department of Commerce Energy Office will run the program, with the help of Arizona State University Polytechnic Campus’ Photovoltaic Testing Laboratory. Arizona utilities and solar power companies will also partner in the initiative.

Drake Landing Solar Community in Okotoks, Alberta, run by native Canadians illustrates the difference between a socially responsible democracy, as we have in Canada, and the shameful lobbyist controlled, Tom Delay styled, Jack Abramoff instigated BULLSHIT the Americans put up with. Every native person in Canada has full free medical coverage - the same as whites! We take care of our own - vetrans too! We are a proud and dignified, well educated, poorer but happy people. If we don’t like what our government is doing - we stop them, fast! and vote them out of office and take our losses, we don’t mince words, we call assholes like McCain assholes, hero or not and we don’t put up with irresponsible sluts in power, even if they are pretty, dear Sarah and daughter! We send the morally suspicious running, and recently canned a minister for sleeping around with one! Upright is the only way to fly! American natives, take notice, you are an abused people and it is shameful for the richest country in the world!
